Here is 2016`s word of the year “Post Truth”
The Oxford English dictionary has just announced the word of the year and here it is - Post-Truth. According to the said dictionary, something is post-truth if it is “relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotions and personal beliefs.” In other words, it’s not known universal truths that are shaping people`s lifestyles and choices but rather it’s now increasingly their personal tastes, feelings and preferences. The editors of the dictionary are very right to name this the word of the year because this word accurately describes the mood of our culture. People no longer care about Truth, people no longer pattern their lives basing on some known truths. Their opinions and decisions are now determined by their feelings, tastes and preferences.
